New Lib Dem, Green and Labour leadership of Oxfordshire County Council confirmed

THE new coalition which will lead Oxfordshire was officially sworn in yesterday.
The Liberal Democrats, Greens and Labour Party will lead the council together in a coalition called the ‘Oxfordshire Fair Deal Alliance’.
The new leader of the council will be Liz Leffman, Lib Dem councillor for Charlbury and Wychwood. Mrs Leffman will be the first Lib Dem to fill the role of leader of the council in its history.
Accepting the role on Tuesday, she said the three parties which would lead the council shared ‘the same objectives in mind.’
The new council leader, who previously challenged David Cameron as a parliamentary candidate for Witney, added: “When we looked at our manifestos, we realised there is far more that binds us than separates us.” ....

THE mention of Tory MP Victoria Prentis during a call for support for the Horton hospital stopped some councillors from voting for it.
Oxfordshire county councillors were asked by Conservative Eddie Reeves to support his motion to do everything they could to deliver an improved facility on the hospital’s existing site or at a new and improved one within the Banbury area that is accessible to residents across the Horton’s unique four-county catchment area .
But the motion also acknowledged the work of other groups and people in the fight to save services at the Banbury hospital, including a mention of the local Conservative MP Victoria Prentis. ....

Council refuse to apologise for £1.6m parking payout

OXFORDSHIRE s council leaders did not rise to the request for an apology after a £1.6m payout of taxpayers money which led to accusations they were asleep at the wheel .
The county council had to make the £1,607,338.57 payout to Marston Holdings Ltd, after the company challenged the way a car parking enforcement contract was awarded in 2019.
But the payment only came to light this February in a report which summarised the mistakes made and the lessons learned.
At a specially convened meeting yesterday, the council s cabinet were asked to apologise for their part in the mistakes which led to the payout. ....
