VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (7News) The body of a man whose truck went off the side of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel has been found in North Carolina, according to the Facebook page dedicated to the search.
The Finding Erik Mezick Facebook page said Friday the 47-year-old s body was found on a North Carolina beach.
According to the National Park Service, a body was found on Cape Hatteras National Seahorse Beach Friday morning. The agency did not go into details but said the body appeared to have been in the ocean for an extended period of time. ....

MANTEO, N.C. The brother of a man whose box truck went off the Chesapeake Bay Bridge- Tunnel (CBBT) in December 2020 said that someone found his brother s body on the beach on the Outer Banks Friday.
Erik Mezick, 47, was a driver for Cloverland Greenspring Dairy and the CBBT was a regular route for him to travel. When his truck went off the CBBT, Mezick was on the northbound span between the North Channel Bridge and the northernmost island. ....

Family confirms body of Fruitland man who crashed off CBBT found

A family member has confirmed the body of Erik Mezick, the Fruitland man who was behind the wheel of a box truck that went over the side of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel in December, has been found in North Carolina.
Erik Mezick was driving for Cloverland Green Spring Dairy on a route that passed over the bridge-tunnel when his truck plunged into the Chesapeake Bay on the morning of Dec. 29, 2020.
Initial efforts to locate him were unsuccessful, but family, friends and community members refused to give up the search. The Finding Erik Mezick Facebook page and its more than 8,600 followers helped to keep the effort going. ....

Family and friends of a delivery driver whose truck plunged off the side of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel last week have launched a Facebook page to help find him.
“We are being told by search and rescue experts that he is drifting in the region of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. This is an ‘all call’ to people in the region who can help search for him,” his family wrote on the Finding Erik Mezick page. “We ask for anyone that is on the water this time of year to keep a close eye out! He needs to be brought home so this family can get some closure.” ....

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - 47-year-old Erik Mezick was a wonderful husband, father, and friend.
Mezick left his home in Fruitland, Maryland on Monday around 10 p.m., according to his wife of 25 years, Megan.
He hopped in his Cloverland Greenspring Dairy box truck, ready to deliver dairy products to Cape Charles and Virginia Beach. It was a 130-mile trip, a job he had only had since March.
On his way back north, the family s world was turned upside down in seconds. Mezick driving northbound around 8:20 a.m., Tuesday, went over the guard rail on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, plunging into the bay near Mile Marker 14. ....
