QUINCY  Ruth Jones, who led the city s health department through the coronavirus pandemic, is set to retire this month.
Jones, who served as a nurse for 19 years in the city s health department, was named as its leader in April of 2019. Less than a year later, she was tasked with seeing the city through a global pandemic that still has the nation s health systems under immense strain.
Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, Jones has been praised by local leaders and residents alike for her dedication and quick thinking in the face of an unprecedented situation.  ....

Quincy health officials encourage patrons of two local restaurants to get tested for COVID-19

Patrons of two Quincy restaurants may have been exposed to the coronavirus on certain dates in December and January, city officials said.
Ruth Jones, the commissioner of Quincy’s health department, said one employee at the Irish Pub and several employees at Cronin’s Publick House tested positive.
“Both places called us and let us know and closed voluntarily,” she said in a telephone interview.
The Quincy Health Department is encouraging residents who spent more than 15 minutes inside those restaurants during specific dates and times to consult with their medical provider or take a COVID-19 test. The time frames for the Irish Pub were on Jan. 1 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.; Jan. 2 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.; and Jan. 3 from noon to 6 p.m.; and for Cronin’s Publick House ....
