Senior citizens come for the meal, but stay for the conversation at the Emory Senior Center.
EMORY, Texas (KLTV) - This week, senior citizens in six East Texas counties are getting back together for lunch for the first time since March 2020.
The COVID-19 pandemic forced senior centers serving congregate meals to close their doors to keep people safe. And while they were still able to serve seniors by offering meals for delivery or pickup, we learned it’s about so much more than a meal. ....

Active people in their 60s have a chance to be featured as models in the 2022 ArkLaTex 60 Strong calendar.

TEXARKANA Active people in their 60s have a chance to be featured as models in the 2022 ArkLaTex 60 Strong calendar.
ArkLaTex 60 Strong is a public service program that celebrates 12 local seniors (between 60 and 69) who prioritize health and fitness, give back to others, or perhaps have overcome an obstacle in their life, said Laura Nelson, of Stafford Communications. Nelson is doing marketing for the program.
Collom and Carney Clinic in Texarkana and Diagnostic Clinic in Longview are sponsors of the ArkLaTex 60 Strong contest in conjunction with the launch of LiveWell Senior Care Advantage, a program designed to provide seamless and greater coordination of care for their senior patients. ....

Anyone age 18 or older can nominate a friend or family member age 60 to 69 who has achieved remarkable levels of fitness, pursued a new hobby or given back to others in some way. Perhaps the candidate is fighting a chronic condition or caring for someone who is.
