SAFA National Women’s League kicks off this weekend
19 April 2021 – The second edition of the SAFA National Women’s League will kick off this coming weekend, 24 April 2021, after last year’s tournament did not take place due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Women’s League that proved a runaway success was launched in 2019 with 12 teams participating in the inaugural season. This season however, will consist of 14 teams following the promotion of 2019 Sasol League National champions JVW from Gauteng and runners up Ma-Indies Ladies from Limpopo.
The rest of the clubs in the expanded league are defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns, Bloemfontein Celtics, three University teams – Tshwane University of Technology, University of Johannesburg and the University of the Western Cape – Tsunami Queens from the Free State, Thunderbirds (Eastern Cape), Coal City Wizards (Mpumalanga), Durban Ladies (KwaZulu Natal), First Touch Academy (Limpopo), Golden Ladies (North W ....

Sasol League ready for kickoff
9 April 2021 – The Sasol League season returns this weekend (Saturday and Sunday) with several provinces kicking off after a year of inactivity.
However, two provinces will delay their start – and have set a date of later this month, 17th of April and the 30th of April 2021 to resume action.
The South African Football Association (SAFA) has received confirmation from clubs that they are ready to get the show on the road.
“I can safely confirm that we have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure that everything goes according to plan – but as it goes with events, there will be some glitches, more so now during this period of Covid-19 where a lot has to be done before teams can take to the field,” said Thomas Sadiki, Head of Competitions at SAFA. ....

The Sasol League is back
5 April 2021- After 12 months of inactivity due to the Corona virus Pandemic, the South African Football Association (SAFA) made an announcement that amateur football, which includes the Sasol League can now be played again.
The first ball will be kicked this coming weekend (Saturday, 10 April 2021).
When the 2020 season was stopped and cancelled in March last year, only three matches had been played.
“We cannot hide our excitement to see the girls back on the field, where they belong. Our role as Sasol is to help grow and develop women’s football in South Africa, but unfortunately Covid-19 denied us, and the players, that chance,” said Nozipho Mbatha: Head of Brand and Sponsorships – Sasol. ....
