James DeFehr of Troop 28 recently obtained the highest honor in Scouts BSA after working diligently on a charming lending library for a community he has known and loved throughout his life.
The library, situated on the grassy area just outside of Galt High School, served not only as a prerequisite for the Eagle award, but as a genuine expression of DeFehrâs commitment to service â particularly in a pandemic that has affected everyoneâs lives one way or another.
âItâs a take a penny, leave a penny system â but for books,â DeFehr explained. âThereâs no record taken; if you see a book you like, you can take it and, if you want to donate, you can donate.â
Assemblyman Ken Cooley presented a resolution honoring Lindsey Liebig as Woman of the Year 2021 at the Herald Fire Protection District fire station in Herald.
Every year, the California State Legislature honors women from their districts for their various contributions for local communities. Raised in Herald and Southern Sacramento County, Liebig is the Executive Director of the Sacramento County Farm Bureau, a nonprofit organization representing farmers and ranchers in Sacramento County.
âIt is an honor to know Lindsey and to highlight her dedication to our local farmers and the agriculture industry,â Assemblyman Cooley said. âI am grateful Lindsey returned to her home county after college as she continues to inspire our future generations of local farmers and ranchers.â
