On January 24 at 4 p.m., MetroWest Climate Solutions will host a Climate Legislation Update featuring State Senator Michael J. Barrett, who represents the Third Middlesex District.
Sen. Barrett continues to be a regional leader on addressing the climate crisis. In this program, he will offer an update on Massachusetts climate legislation at the start of a new legislative session and his view of what our state and region need to do to address the growing threats from our changing climate.
The Zoom-based presentation will be followed by a Q&A, moderated by Chris Stix. Stix is a founder of MetroWest Climate Solutions and he is a Senior Fellow at the Conservation Law Foundation focusing on transitioning the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from greenhouse gas generated by natural gas consumption and leaks. ....

For nine years in a row, Massachusetts ranked as the most energy-efficient state in the country, according to a closely watched annual report.
But not this year.
The state dropped to No. 2, behind California, according to the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy, a nonprofit based in Washington D.C.
While the reasons for the lost bragging rights are somewhat technical â Massachusetts was still lauded in the groupâs annual report card â the slight demotion has sparked calls to reform its energy efficiency programs, which are considered vital to the stateâs plans to effectively eliminate carbon emissions by 2050. ....
