Oak Harbor girls notch 11th SBC title in row; Rockets narrowly topple Huron for boys crown

PORT CLINTON For the 11th year in a row, the Oak Harbor girls track team has won a league championship. The Rockets won the Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division, finishing with 166 points.
Margaretta was second with 124 points, followed by Edison (116), Huron (113), Willard (71) and Port Clinton (47).
“I think all year long they felt a little pressure from Huron and Margaretta. In our eyes, it was going to be a really close meet. They were really making us wonder if we could win this year,” said Oak Harbor coach John McKitrick. “This senior class didn’t want to be the ones that lost the streak. Everybody did their job.” ....

Oak Harbor has the highest team batting average in the Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division at .313 (145 for 463), but at 7-10 overall and 3-3 in the conference, they aren’t exactly on track to win a championship.
That does not mean they are out of it far from it. Like other local prep baseball conferences, if they can keep their losses to three, they could remain in the hunt. Coach Nick Lance expected his team to be there, but right now Edison appears to be the team to beat at 5-1 in the league, but the Chargers are 9-6 overall. ....

Oak Harbor softball coach Chris Rawski’s team returned to Ottawa County after going 3-2 on a spring trip to Florida.
Since returning, they have gone 2-1 to improve to 5-3, but that one loss came in the most important game, a Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division match-up.
The Rockets returned home to sweep a doubleheader from visiting Genoa, 14-4 and 10-2. Junior pitcher Reagan Schultz got the win in both games, and in the opener junior Remi Gregory went 2-for-3 with a double, walk, three RBIs and two runs. In the second game, senior Ellie Hanselman went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. ....
