STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. In keeping with tradition, Borough President James Oddo hosted the annual Menorah Lighting ceremony this year via a virtual celebration on Wednesday evening at the landmarked building in St. George. The ceremony can be viewed on Borough Hall’s webpage, here: www.statenislandusa.com/hanukkah2020.
“Greetings and Happy Hanukkah everyone,” the borough president said. “I’m coming to you from a dark, quiet, lonely Room 125 at essentially empty Borough Hall, the room where we would normally have our Menorah Lighting, a metaphor sadly to what we’ve experienced this last year with the COVID virus. ....
