NASCAR race team owner Richard Childress' company buys Sheetz property

The Sheetz convenience store property in the Midway Township in northern Davidson County has been sold to a company familiar to most Davidson County residents, according to an April 28 filing with the Davidson County Register of Deeds.
CLW Welcome Sheetz LLC sold the 1.87 acre site to purchaser RCR Enterprises. RCR Enterprises is a company owned by Richard Childress, a NASCAR team owner who lives in Davidson County. The property was purchased for $1.3 million and is located at 8283 Old U.S. Highway 52.
The recorded deed does not specify RCR Enterprises plans for the property. 
The Sheetz location opened its doors in August 2012, becoming the second Sheetz in Davidson County and the 12th in North Carolina. It was the first Sheetz in the county to have a dine-in restaurant. ....

CHARLOTTE — High Point senior libero Abby Bottomley has been voted the 2021 Big South Conference Spring Volleyball Player of the Year, while Panthers’ head coach Ryan Meek was selected Coach of the Year by the league’s head coaches, the conference announced Wednesday.
Bottomley is the first libero ever to be voted Big South Player of the Year, and is the first Panther with the postseason honor since former teammate Molly Livingston in 2018. Bottomley appeared in all 55 sets for HPU this spring and tallied 285 digs, 5.18 digs per set, 27 service aces, 0.49 service aces per set, and 62 assists. Her 27 total service aces were the most in the Big South this spring, while her per set average ranked second among the league leaders. Bottomley also paced the conference with her 5.18 digs per set — the lone player to average at least 5.00, and her 285 digs were second-most.
