Robbers nabbed in Thoothukudi Updated: Updated: Share Article THOOTHUKUDI A police special team has nabbed a gang of robbers, who robbed a TASMAC shop supervisor of ₹ 6.13 lakh on April 12 last. According to Superintendent of Police S. Jayakumar, TASMAC retail outlet supervisor M. Murugan, 51, of Anna Nagar Colony near Kulathoor was robbed by three unidentified persons at knifepoint when he was going to the bank in Keezha Vaippaar to deposit the previous day’s collection. The team zeroed in on D. Bharath, 22 of Indrani Main Road, Mudakku Salai, Madurai, and his associates K. Muthu Irul, 29, of Samayanallur in Madurai and K. Manikandan alias Suruttai Mani, 23, of Vallalaar Kovil Street, Millerpuram in Thoothukudi. While Bharath and Suruttai Mani have been arrested, police found that Muthu Irul has been lodged in Srivilliputhur sub-jail after being arrested for allegedly smuggling 21 kg ganja. ....

(Photo: IANS) Image Source: IANS News Chennai, April 18 : The Tamil Nadu public health department is taking blood samples and plasma randomly in 888 clusters for the state s second sero survey. The survey will continue till April-end as some districts have commenced the survey after the elections. A total of 26,000 samples will be collected for testing from these 888 clusters. Preliminary results are expected a month after the survey is completed and the main objective of the second sero survey is to find out whether the population has developed herd immunity. ....
Picture used for representational purpose only The public health department has been collecting at random blood (serum and plasma) samples from about 26,000 people in 888 clusters since March 27 for TN’s second serosurveillance for Covid-19. The survey would go on till the end of April as some districts began the survey after the polls. Director of public health Dr T S Selvavinayagam said one of the objectives of the sero survey is to find if the community has developed herd immunity. Preliminary results could be expected a month after the survey ends. The sample population is also being asked to answer a questionnaire on occupation, exposure status, age, sex, travel history etc, which would give a more detailed account of the disease. ....
