MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) The Mankato Clinic received the 2021 Presidents Community Partner Award from Gustavus Adolphus College for its student clinical observation program.
For 11 years the college and clinic have partnered, offering selected pre-health students a chance to shadow a variety of medical professionals and real-world health care experience.
The program lasts four weeks and students are there about 40 hours per week.
“We rotated a number of different departments and specialties. We followed a bunch of different providers, so physicians, PAs and nurse practitioners, and each experience had something unique to offer, a lot of great people to meet and overall just one of the most impactful l things I’ve done,” said Torben Urdahl, a student at Gus ....

Franklin Pierce University has honored senior Carina Dillon, an avid community volunteer and founder of the university’s Students of Faith organization, with the Presidents’ Award for leadership.
Dillon was recognized in a virtual ceremony last week, along with her fellow Presidents’ Awards recipients for Franklin Pierce University, Professor Mack Bean, who was recognized with the Good Steward Award, and Project Shakespeare, which received the Community Partner Award.
Dillon, a Health Sciences major who will be moving on to doctorate-level studies after graduating Franklin Pierce this spring, has been highly involved with the area’s youth through her commitment to the Franklin Piece Community Service office, and as a student leader in several areas of students life. ....

Chamber Will Honor Community, Business Leaders at 'Honors' Event

Many community members and business leaders have made a huge difference in the Saucon Valley area over the last year, as challenges resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic forced changes in the way local residents live their lives.
The Hellertown-Lower Saucon Chamber of Commerce plans to honor five individuals or groups who’ve gone above and beyond to support the community during the pandemic at its Honors & Hors D’oeuvres Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, May 25 from 5:15 to 7 p.m.
The event will take place outside at Hellertown’s Dimmick Park Pavilion, with attendees required to remain socially distanced and wear masks except when eating and drinking. ....

    Once again virtually, the United Way of Crookston Board is recognizing the “outstanding community members who helped us make the 2020 fundraising campaign a success,” outgoing Board Chair Jacqueline Cournia says.
    “In a very difficult year, the needs of the community are greater than ever and the United Way is very proud to announce that under the leadership of Executive Director Lori Wagner, the annual fundraising goal was met again through the commitment and dedication by so many in and around the Crookston community,”  Cournia says. “The following individuals have been long time supporters of the United Way and of the Crookston Community and we are indebted to each and every one of them.” ....
