Pamplin Media Group - Tri-county agency head to discuss Metro's expanding role


Metro leader Lynn Peterson on Friday will discuss agency serving Multnomah, Washington and Clackamas counties.
Metro Council President Lynn Peterson will discuss the efforts and future of the unusual regional tri-county government agency she heads on Friday, Feb. 26.
The online virtual discussion, which runs from noon to 1 p.m., will discuss the agency s expanding role in Multnomah, Washington and Clackamas counties, whether it is sufficiently accountable to the public, and what the future holds, according to the City Club of Portland, which is hosting the online event.
Following her address will be a discussion between Peterson and Katrina Holland, the executive director of JOIN and a co-founder of Reimagine Oregon, a coalition formed by Black-led organizations to push for policies and programs to address systemic racism. ....

Pamplin Media Group - Infant among COVID-19 deaths reported Thursday


In a statement, Oregon Gov. Kate Brown and husband Dan call the death a tragedy.
A Umatilla County infant has died from COVID-19, Oregon health officials reported on Thursday, Feb. 18.
The infant s death was among the six deaths reported by the Oregon Health Authority, bringing the state s death toll to 2,149.
Meanwhile, 466 new confirmed and presumptive COVID-19 cases were also reported, bringing the state total to 151,713.
We have all worked together for nearly a year in Oregon to protect the lives of those we hold most dear, Oregon Gov. Kate Brown said in a joint statement with her husband, Dan. The loss of a life so young is an indescribable tragedy for a family. Dan and I send our thoughts and condolences to the mother and family of this child, whose grief must be unimaginable in this moment. The hearts of all Oregonians are with you today. ....

Pamplin Media Group - COVID-19 continues trending down


New COVID-19 cases continued trending down Sunday, Feb. 14
The Oregon Health Authority reported 254 new cases as of Feb. 14, bringing the state total to 150,281. That compares to 474 new cases reported Saturday, Feb. 13.
The health authority also reported no new deaths, leaving the state s toll at 2,137. That compares to 34 new deaths reported Feb. 13. They took place between Oct. 21 and Feb. 12.
State health officials also reported that a cumulative total of 677,194 first and second doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered. That is 76% of the 885,250 doses of vaccine that have been delivered to sites across Oregon. Vaccinations at mass sites in Portland have been suspended because of the weather. ....
