Buhari plans internship programme for post-NYSC graduates


Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, announced that the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NFJP) is a government collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the European Union (EU).
Private sector partners of the programme include BUA, Dangote, VISA Nigeria, Outsource Global, GE Gas and Power, Lafarge Africa, SecureID, Microsoft, among others.
The fully-paid internship is billed to last for 12 months, with beneficiaries posted to reputable private and public sector organisations.
Osinbajo said the programme will help equip young Nigerians with skills and experience required for the work place.
We are resolute in our determination to make the needed difference, and rebuild the confidence of our young people in the ability of their government to rise to the occasion and guarantee a future that is better and more prosperous than the past, the VP said.

The Federal government through the ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development on Tuesday flagged off the distribution of Utensils under the National Home Grown School Programme in the North Central Zone.
On the occasion which took place at LEA primary school Jabi, the Minister Sadiya Umar Farouq  presented 15,750 utensils including stainless plates and cutlery sets as well as 1,000 aprons to the FCT which is a balance of the 73,060 utensils and 1555 aprons earlier presented in 2020 .
In her remarks, the minister stated that the impact of the School feeding initiative has been enormous.

The launch of the Alternate School Programme has reopened conversations on the increasing number of out-of-school children in Nigeria. What is this programme meant to achieve?
It’s an intervention programme focused on providing education in a flexible way to out-of-school children (OOSC). It also provides them with social investment programme benefits. The Alternate School Programme (ASP) also targets the humanitarian and social challenges faced by the OOSC.

Bill to channel 15% VAT for 'Trust Fund' scales 2nd reading


It was to provide for an Act to provide a legal framework for establishment of NSIPs for the assistance and empowerment of the poor and vulnerable in Nigeria.
Presenting the synopsis during plenary on Tuesday, Rep. Mansur Manu Soro said, the Bill in section 14 (a) proposed for the direct deduction of 15% aggregate of the VAT collected monthly for the purpose of funding the programmes which include the N-Power, Conditional Cash Transfer, Home-Grown School Feeding Market Moni, Trader-Moni and others.
“These programmes are basically aimed at reducing unbearable social conditions and economic discomfort largely induced by unemployment, especially among youths with resultant poverty.
