The National Housing Finance Corporation (NHFC) has formed a partnership with the City of Cape Town which will see an upgrade and maintenance of the city’s rental stock, estimated at 57,000 units.
The partnership was announced this week by human settlements, water and sanitation minister Lindiwe Sisulu.
She said the partnership would go a long way in providing decent, secure and affordable accommodation to the people who live and work in Cape Town. ....

Wi-Fi in every apartment, with solar water heating: the swanky suburb of Rivonia will become home to working-class families under a City of Johannesburg development.
Mayoral committee member for housing Mlungisi Mabaso this week hosted a sod-turning ceremony at the site in Edenburg, Rivonia.
Led by the Johannesburg Social Housing Company (Joshco), the development aims to advance the city’s programme of building decent, accessible and affordable housing enabling qualifying groups of middle-low income earners to access housing opportunities around the economic nerve centres such as Sandton, Midrand and Fourways. ....

PORT LOUIS: External affairs minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday inaugurated a new chancery building of the Indian High Commission in Mauritius and reviewed over 950 housing units built with Indian support in the country.
Jaishankar arrived here in India s strategically key maritime neighbour in the Indian Ocean region on Sunday night from the Maldives on the last leg of his two-nation tour.
