CDHS awards seven community grantees through the Colorado Fatherhood Program

The Colorado Department of Human Services announced today that seven community sites across Colorado have been selected to provide services to fathers with funding support from a $7.5 million grant. The grant funding created the five-year Colorado Fatherhood Program, which seeks to support fathers to sustain healthy relationships, reinforce responsible parenting through skills-based parent education, and foster economic security.
 
 
Awards range from $75,000 to $125,000 annually for the five-year program, and the Colorado Fatherhood Program estimates it will enroll 455 fathers annually. Fatherhood sites participating in the Colorado Fatherhood Program will act as local hubs that empower fathers through family-centered case management, parenting education, and connections to community-based services that ....

Minister Coveney announces funding of €1.85 million to Cork organisations

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Simon Coveney, T.D., today announced €1.85 million in funding for three Cork based organisations to implement development projects overseas. Brighter Communities Worldwide, Serve in Solidarity and University College Cork will receive grants from Irish Aid’s Civil Society Fund.
Announcing the funding Minister Coveney remarked:
 “Civil society organisations play a key role in the development response globally. Throughout the pandemic, they have been to the fore in supporting vulnerable communities across the developing world and in delivering essential services.”

Wang Center "Celebration of Service" tackles the impact of COVID-19 & the LGBTQ+ community

Students at Pacific Lutheran University are invited to attend the Wang Center’s 5th Biennial Ambassador Chris Stevens Celebration of Service on Tuesday, March 9. As in the past, this year’s event is centered around a contemporary global issue, in this case the COVID-19 pandemic.
The event is split into two virtual sessions. The first, from 12-1 p.m., is titled “Reflections on Community Health Service in Global Context” and features three PLU alumni who have served as Peace Corps Prep volunteers and who specialized in community health during their service.
The keynote presentation, from 7-8 p.m., will feature Amie Bishop, a global health and human rights consultant and Senior Advisor for the global LGBTIQ human rights organization Outright Action International. Her presentation is titled “Vulnerabilities Amplified: The Impact of COVID 19 on LGBTIQ+ Communities Globally.” ....
