Covid-19: Passengers on Cook Islands flight upbeat despite possible 14-day quarantine


On Tuesday, Cook Islands Prime Minister Mark Brown said no passengers would be allowed onto Wednesday’s flight to Rarotonga from Auckland due to the Northland case.
Since last November, Cook Islanders heading home haven’t had to undergo mandatory quarantine if they travelled from New Zealand.
The 30 passengers who were booked for Wednesday’s flight had their tickets transferred to a Saturday flight, pending test results proving no community transmission had taken place.

The three new cases prompted health authorities to ramp up testing efforts in Auckland, Rodney and Northland, however as of 1pm on Saturday, no further community cases have been identified.. ....

The ASB Polyfest, Auckland Secondary Schools Maori & Pacific Islands Cultural Festival, is back in 2021. The iconic festival will celebrate its 45th anniversary this year, after this milestone was put on hold last year due to the initial COVID-19 outbreak, which banned large events.
The 2020 event was cancelled two days before the opening powhiri, causing a significant financial loss for festival organisers. After spending a great deal of last year focussing on a financial rescue package to cover this loss, the Polyfest Trust are delighted to announce that the festival will return in 2021 with revised dates and format, but the same pride and passion that the festival is famous for. ....
