Job shortage isn't due to greedy unemployed people

Some businesses say they’re struggling to fill vacancies as the pandemic starts to ease; the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) says 42 percent of small businesses have unfilled openings; and the National Restaurant Association suggests people would prefer staying home and subsisting off unemployment insurance, which through Sept. 6 includes a $300 federal supplement to state benefits.
However, HALF of restaurant workers were denied benefits because their pay was too low to qualify, says the One Fair Wage (OFW) coalition.
The problem is more complicated that the alleged greed of the jobless, and the solution is simple.
Women have been harder hit, according to the Brookings Institution, which reports 40 percent had to drop jobs when schools and child-care services closed. ....

CHICAGO (WLS) The Chicago-Cook Workforce Partnership, a training and job resource network, works to place thousands of place every year.
I know how it feels to be out of work. I know how it feels to be collecting unemployment. I have been there. I have struggled as a single mom. I have, said electrical apprentice Torian Anderson.
Anderson wanted to work in the construction trades but could not afford to pay for training. Now, she is working as an electrical apprentice with a full-time salary on the massive CTA Red-Purple line modernization project.
It s exciting that when I get on the train and I look, I know that these trains are going back and forth and getting people where they have to go safely based off the work that I did and my coworkers and counterparts as well, Anderson said. ....
