THE Prime Minister has said that all qualified applicants for the Salary Relief and Income Support Grants will receive same by the end of the year.
He was responding to a question by Chaguanas East MP Vandana Mohit in Parliament on Friday.
She asked what was the present status of these grants between May 2021 and now.
Dr Rowley said it is moving full speed ahead but the actual numbers of people should be sought from the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Social Development. ....

BARATARIA/SAN JUAN MP Saddam Hosein said hundreds of his constituents had received no Salary Relief Grant, which was offered during last year s lockdown aimed at curbing the covid19 pandemic.
He was addressing a UNC virtual briefing on Wednesday.
While government ministers have repeated presented figures to argue many people have got grants, Newsday asked the UNC line-up (which included Couva North MP Ravi Ratiram and Chaguanas Mayor Faaiq Mohammed) if the Government s claims matched their own anecdotal experiences with their constituents. ....

It was a day of large gathering and even larger traffic jams on Tuesday as school managements and teachers took a huge rally demanding that the
state government reverse its circular asking the schools to charge only 70 per cent of the tuition fee this year.

Central Business District area took a hit. Later, addressing teachers, MLC Puttanna urged the Government to roll back the circular, saying that it was irrational as he claimed that the schools’ income had reduced by 55 to 65 per cent due to Covid pandemic. ....
