LAHORE: India stopped on Thursday 720 Sikh pilgrims from attending the Saka festival being held in Pakistan from Feb 18 to 25, citing Covid-19 and “safety” reasons.
Pakistan criticised the Indian government decision, calling it a grave human rights violation.
“Sikh pilgrims were scheduled to enter Lahore via Wagah border and we all were there to welcome them, when we came to know that the Indian government has barred them from coming to Pakistan,” Pakistan Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PGPC) Chief Sardar Satwant Singh told a press conference at Lahore Dera Sahib temple on Thursday. ....

Pak asks law enforcement agencies to ensure security of Sikh pilgrims

Lahore: Pakistan’s Punjab government on Thursday asked the law enforcement agencies to ensure the security of the Sikh pilgrims arriving in the country for the 100th anniversary of the Saka Nankana Sahib from this week. 
On Thursday, India denied permission to around 600 Sikh pilgrims to visit Pakistan, citing the security and COVID-19 situation in the country.
The Cabinet Committee on Law and Order of Punjab government directed the law enforcement agencies and respective districts’ administration to ensure the security of the Sikh pilgrims and their holy places in all respects in connection with the Saka event. ....
