The nation observed Amar Ekushey and International Mother Language Day on Sunday, paying glowing tribute to the martyrs of the historic Language Movement of 1952.
President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina led the nation in paying homage to the valiant sons of the soil who sacrificed their lives to establish Bangla as state language of then Pakistan.
On behalf of the President and the Prime Minister, President’s military secretary Major General SM Salahuddin Islam and Prime Minister’s military secretary Major General Naquib Ahmed Chowdhury placed wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar in the capital at zero hours. ....

Nation recalls language heroes with due respect | Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS)

of the language heroes on this day 69 years back on the occasion of Shaheed
Dibos and International Mother Language Day.
Clad in black and white dresses especially traditional sharees and
panjabees people in thousands thronged the Central Shaheed Minar here since
midnight to pay their glowing tributes to the 1952 language martyrs by
placing wreaths and flowers at the altar of the monument.
Considering the prevailing COVID-19 situation and following the proper
hygiene rules, a maximum of five-member delegate from each organization and a
maximum of 2 persons at the individual level were allowed to lay wreaths at
the Shaheed Minar.

KITE releases FOSS-based operating system

It will feature on student laptops provided as part of Vidyashree
On International Mother Language Day on Sunday, the Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE) released a new, customised free and open source software (FOSS)-based operating system KITE GNU-Linux Lite 2020.
The operating system, expected to benefit millions of computer users in the State, will feature on the thousands of student laptops being provided as part of the Vidyashree scheme by the State government.
Based on the Ubuntu free software platform, the new version of the operating system (OS) comes preloaded with a bunch of software, ranging from office packages, language input tools, database applications, DTP-graphics image editing software, sound recording and video editing packages, programming IDEs (integrated development environment), scratch visual programming, and so on. ....
