75-year-old Amul group's turnover crosses Rs 53k crore | Vadodara News

Vadodara: In its 75th anniversary year, Amul group’s annual turnover, including those of its member unions, has crossed Rs 53,000 crore ($7.1 billion).
Despite negative impact of the Covid-19 induced pandemic and its adverse effect on the dairy commodity markets, the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (Amul Federation) has registered turnover of Rs 39,248 crore in financial year 2020-21. Results of the apex body of the dairy cooperatives of Gujarat were declared on Tuesday during the 47th annual general meeting of GCMMF.
The federation had posted a turnover of Rs 38,542 crore in the previous financial year.
Country’s largest cooperative is now aiming to double its group turnover to Rs 1 lakh crore by the year 2025. ....

Alltech ONE event, Dr. Torsten Hemme, the CEO and founder of the International Farm Comparison Network (IFCN) – gave a presentation on current global milk production and market trends.
He also spoke about the prices farmers can expect in 2021 and opportunities that exist in the global milk trade.

Dr. Hemme began by outlining the current dairy trends and production, he stated that: ”On average, a person is consuming 0.3L per day or 118kg of milk/person/year and that annually, dairy products are consumed by over seven billion people.
“There are currently 121 million dairy farms globally, with an average of three cows/farm with an average production of 2.5t/cow/year.” ....

Milk will now be collected from 129 villages in the district
Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy launched the A.P. Amul Palavelluva Project in Guntur district virtually from his camp soffice on Friday.
On the occasion, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said the project was intended to give a fillip to the empowerment of women self-help groups by encouraging milk cooperatives in the government sector. ....
