TULSA - The American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) announce an exploration of the benefits and opportunities of a merger creating the energy professionals organization for the future. With unanimous consent from the AAPG Executive Committee and the SPE Board of Directors, a steering committee was created to explore opportunities to form a new combined organization in response to an evolving energy sector and challenging COVID-impacted market environment.

The American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) on Tuesday announced the two associations were in the process of exploring a potential merger.
AAPG and SPE said they were studying the benefits and opportunities of a potential merger creating the energy professionals organization for the future.

SPE names new Chief Global Events Officer

SPE names new Chief Global Events Officer
RICHARDSON, February 14, 2021
Mark Rubin, SPE CEO and Executive Vice President, has announced that Michelle Boyd has been promoted to the position of Chief Global Events Officer.

Boyd has been with SPE since 2011 and has most recently served as Director, Middle East, Africa, and South Asia Events. In her new role, Boyd will have responsibility for oversight of SPE events globally. She will remain based in SPE’s Dubai office.

This position was created to fill the vacancy left by the planned retirement of Stephen Graham in mid-April. Graham, Chief Operating Officer, has been responsible for SPE’s global event portfolio. ....
