Rupee slightly down

KARACHI: The rupee slightly went down against the dollar in the interbank market on Thursday and dealers said they expected the local unit to stay steady in the coming days.
The rupee closed at 154.79 against the dollar, compared with the previous closing of 154.77. In the open market, the rupee ended unchanged at 155.30 versus the dollar.
Dealers said the rupee held almost steady, owing to matching demand and supply of the greenback in the market.
“The demand for the dollars was there but supplies were adequate to cater to that demand,” a currency dealer said.
“We think the rupee will stabilise at the current levels in the sessions ahead, as the import payments pressure seems to be eased.” ....
