9 & 10 News May 25, 2021 As tourists make their way up north starting as early as next week, restaurants and bars are doing everything they can to make sure they have the staff they need all during a labor shortage. “Hiring has been a nightmare,” said Clam Lake Beer Company General Manager Dawn Casey. “We’ve never had struggles like we have with hiring people.” Like many other restaurants and bars, Clam Lake can’t seem to find people to fill open positions. “Through the pandemic when we were shut down, we had minimal staff that worked harder than they have ever worked,” said Casey. ....
9 & 10 News February 1, 2021 Starting Monday, restaurants across the state can reopen for indoor dining. However, with a couple reopening restrictions from the state health department. Restaurants can only seat up to 25% of their capacity, indoors and they must close by 10 o’clock at night. “It’s grim, but we’re happy to have something,” says Dawn Casey, general manager of Clam Lake Beer Company in Cadillac. Casey says she’s excited to have people back inside, even if it’s only at 25% capacity: “25% capacity means we have 35 guests we can seat on the main dining floor on this floor, we also have our upstairs that we can seat 12 people and then we will also be offering our bubbles.” ....
