Organizers of a Memorial Day event in Ohio are facing criticism after they cut the microphone of a veteran in the middle of his speech. Army Lt. Col.
Barnard Kemter was speaking at a ceremony at the Markillie Cemetery in Hudson, Ohio, which was put together by the Hudson American Legion Auxiliary.
About halfway through his speech, Kemter brought up the history that freed slaves had in celebrating Memorial Day for the first time. He explained that historians believe that a group of freed slaves organized the ceremony on May 1, 1865, at the remains of a Confederate prison camp. ....

Amazon announced that it will no longer test most job seekers for marijuana. The decision comes as multiple states have legalized recreational marijuana and made it illegal for companies to test applicants for the drug.
In the past, like many employers, we ve disqualified people from working at Amazon if they tested positive for marijuana use. However, given where state laws are moving across the U.S., we ve changed course. We will no longer include marijuana in our comprehensive drug screening program for any positions not regulated by the Department of Transportation and will instead treat it the same as alcohol use. The man, who is from Jiangsu province, which is northwest of Shanghai, had a fever and other symptoms and is now in stable condition. Officials said his prognosis is good, and he is expected to be released from the hospital in the coming days.
There were no other reports of infections following contract tracing and medical observation of his close contacts. It is unclear how the man contracted the virus. Most people who contract an avian flu virus work with poultry.
There are no other reports of the H10N3 strain in humans.
It is rare for avian flu viruses to jump from birds to people, but it can be deadly when it does. The H5N1 strain, which has been around since 2003, has sickened over 700 people around the world and has a mortality rate of 60%. The most recent epidemic was caused by the H7N9 strain, which killed about 300 people from 2016-2017. ....

Moderna has started the process of applying for full FDA approval for its COVID-19 vaccine for people over the age of 18. The drug company will continue to submit trial data to the FDA on a rolling basis over the next several weeks as it waits for the agency to conduct a priority review. The review is expected to take about six months.
