AGRA: Former MLA Louise Khurshid, wife of former Union minister Salman Khurshid, faces arrest in a case of alleged misappropriation of central grants for a trust she ran with him after a local court in Farrukhabad issued a nonbailable warrant against her. The next hearing is on August 16.
“I will file an application on Thursday for the withdrawal of the order. My wife had been granted interim bail in this case by the Allahabad HC over a year ago,” Khurshid told TOI on Wednesday. Chief judicial magistrate Praveen Kumar Tyagi had issued the warrant against Louise on Tuesday. Farrukhabad SSP Ashok Kumar Meena said he hadn’t received the order yet, “but that could be because of Bakrid. The case goes back to 2010. The Dr Zakir Husain Memorial Trust in Delhi, a government-funded organisation which had received a grant of Rs 71.5 lakh from the Centre for distribution of wheelchairs and hearing aids in UP. A news channel claimed that the money meant for the disabled had never been used.

यूपी के फर्रुखाबाद की एक अदालत ने पूर्व विदेश मंत्री सलमान खुर्शीद की पत्‍नी लुईस खुर्शीद और सचिव अतहर फारूखी के खिलाफ गैर जमानती वारंट जारी किया है। यह वारंट दिव्‍यांगों के लिए उपकरण खरीद में कथित गबन को लेकर चल रहे केस में जारी किया गया है। 
डॉक्टर जाकिर हुसैन मेमोरियल ट्रस्ट में 71 लाख रुपए से ज्यादा की धनराशि के कथित गबन के मामला चल रहा है। इस मामले में मंगलवार को फर्रुखाबाद के मुख्‍य न्‍यायिक मजिस्‍ट्रेअ प्रवीण कुमार त्‍यागी ने पूर्व केंद्रीय मंत्री सलमान खुर्शीद की पत्नी लुईस खुर्शीद समेत दो लोगों के खिलाफ गैर जमानती वारंट जारी किया। मामले की अगली सुनवाई 16 अगस्‍त को होगी। जून 2017 में आर्थिक अपराध शाखा ने इस मामले की जांच शुरू की थी। तब कायमगंज थाने में निरीक्षक राम शंकर यादव ने लुइस खुर्शीद और अतहर फारूकी के खिलाफ एफआईआर दर्ज कराई थी। बताया जा रहा है कि लुईस खुर्शीद इस खरीद से सम्‍बन्धित परियोजना की निदेशक थीं। 30 दिसंबर 2019 को इस मामले में आरोप पत्र दाखिल किया गया था। 
अभी तक सामने आई जानकारी के मुताबिक मार्च 2010 में डॉक्टर जाकिर हुसैन मेमोरियल ट्रस्ट को यूपी के 17 जिलों में दिव्यांगों को व्हीलचेयर, ट्राई साइकिल और सुनने के यंत्र वितरित करने के लिए केंद्र सरकार से 71.50 लाख रुपए का अनुदान मिला था। बाद में ट्रस्ट के पदाधिकारियों पर इस रकम में गबन का आरोप लगा था। आरोप में कहा गया कि केंद्र सरकार से वह अनुदान यूपी के वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों के फर्जी हस्‍ताक्षर करके और मोहर लगाकर हासिल किया गया था। हालांकि ट्रस्ट का दावा था कि उसने एटा, मैनपुरी, अलीगढ़, शाहजहांपुर, इटावा, फर्रुखाबाद, कासगंज, बरेली और मेरठ समेत प्रदेश कई अन्‍य जिलों में शिविर लगाकर दिव्यांग बच्चों को उपकरण बांटे गए थे लेकिन आरोपों में कहा गया कि ऐसे शिविर कभी लगाए ही नहीं गए थे।
