MISSOULA — A Western Montana man who admitted creating and transporting child pornography videos was sentenced today to 240 months in prison following by 10 years of supervised release, Acting U.S. Attorney Leif Johnson said.
David Paul Farrar, 58, of Plains pleaded guilty on Aug. 4 to sexual exploitation of a child and transportation of child pornography.
“Homeland Security Investigations special agents are proud to work closely with the Sanders County Sheriff’s Department to target and arrest individuals who prey on women and children in what should be the safety of their own homes,” said Steven Cagen, Special Agent in Charge, HSI Denver. ....

GREAT FALLS — A man is dead after engaging law enforcement officers in a stand-off and shooting at officers, wounding one of them.
The Montana Department of Justice said in a news release that on Friday, December 11th at about 12:30 a.m., the Sanders County Sheriff’s Office received a call for assistance regarding a man armed with a handgun and an assault rifle who had entered the Naughty Pine Saloon in Trout Creek. The man barricaded himself inside an area of the saloon. A small group of customers were inside at the time of the incident. A Sanders County deputy arrived and began negotiating with the man. ....
