BANGOR, Maine The Bangor Fire Department is upgrading its radios thanks to a $110,000 grant from the Assistance to Firefighters Grants Program.
The government covers most of that, the city has to cover 10% of that, and we were able to pay that out of our operating budget, said Bangor Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Chandler Corriveau. ....

We re very thankful for the mutual aid from our neighboring fire departments, that s for sure. All the crews from the Bangor crews to the mutual aid crews.I mean they all did an absolutely outstanding job. I can t say enough thanks to the crews. I really can t.
Bangor s Assistant Fire Chief, Chandler Corriveau, says help from neighboring fire departments responding to two major fires over the weekend, made all the difference in the world.

It was just before 2PM Saturday, when Firefighters from Bangor s Central Station, Station 5 and Station 6 were sent out to a multi-unit apartment building that had caught fire at 625 Finson Rd. When they arrived, the first 2 of 6 units were involved in the fire. Due to the high winds that day, they knew they d have to move fast to keep the blaze from spreading to the other units, so mutual aid from neighboring towns was called in to cover Bangor s Fire Stations, as the Finson Rd. fire had become an all hands ....

My least favorite part of pretty much any given year, is the week before Christmas and New Years. It feels like the longest week of the year.
