May 10 SANTA CRUZ Waikiki Yacht Club’s Philippe Kahn sailed to the Moore 24 Nationals title.
Twenty-three boats entered in the regatta, hosted by Santa Cruz Yacht Club, and none could keep pace with Kahn, a 69-year-old founder of four technology companies.
Kahn skipped Pegasus Racing to a pair second place in a pair of races Sunday and finished with a total of eight points. He won four of the seven races over the weekend and threw out his worst finish fourth place in race No. 3 on Saturday. ....

Wayne John Colahan, Jr., in the presence of his wife Mildred Thompson Colahan, supported by his loving family and friends, passed away on Feb. 16, 2021.
All those who encountered Wayne will attest that he was one of the true stand-up individuals. He had an amazing 90-year run! Wayne lived a life that made all who knew him proud to call him husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Wayne leaves behind his beloved wife of 69 years, his sister, children, grandchildren, and related loved ones. Born in Woodstock, Illinois, on Sept. 25, 1930, he attended local schools, where at the age of 13, he met his future wife, Milly. ....

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Santa Cruz Harbor Master has launched a formal investigation following the Sunday rescue of a dozen novice sailors from large ocean swells.
Witnesses agonized for what seemed an eternity as the forecast swells flipped a dozen young yachters into the frigid waters of Santa Cruz Harbor at about 4:30 pm.
We saw them out in the water in the first place. And we have no why they were even out there, said witness Jenny Umstead.
She and others said a dozen novice yachters tried to re-enter the harbor during a sailing lesson in low tide and large swells. ....
