The competitors line up for the start in Douglas
About 300 festive revellers and a Shetland pony braved windy weather on the Isle of Man in the annual Santa Dash.
The £5 entry fees and an array of prizes for the top competitors will be donated to a range of local charities.
Beginning on Hill Street, the runners dressed as Santa and elves to complete a mile-long route through Douglas.
Nick Colburn beat Jamie Newton by four seconds to claim victory in five minutes, one second.

Atlantic Academy students on Portland take part in Santa Dash

The energetic Portland students entered the annual Santa Dash nationwide competition.
Each year group at Atlantic Academy, an all-through, completed a 1 mile run, walk, bike, scoot or simply 15 minutes of an activity of their choice.
The aim was to see each year group – from Reception through to Year 11 take part in their activity at the same time as all the other children in their year group across the country.
Pictures were then uploaded to social media so that other schools and pupils could see what they got up to at the same time from Cornwall up to Carlisle!
The Santa Dash ties in with the academy’s Healthy School status. Melissa Heppell, Principal of Atlantic’s Primary, said the event was a great opportunity for students to take part in a whole-school activity. She joined in with her year groups and Lesley Bishop, Principal of Atlantic Secondary, participated with year groups 7 to 11. ....

Mayor's gift of £40,000 to Windsor and Maidenhead's hospice

Outgoing mayor Cllr Sayonara Luxton undertook her last official engagement on Monday - and it was a very personal one for her.
Cllr Luxton presented a cheque for £40,194 to the charity she has supported throughout her 19-month term as Royal Borough mayor, at a socially distanced ceremony at the new state-of-the-art Thames Hospice in Windsor Road, Maidenhead.
She had raised the money for the hospice by hosting and participating in a variety of charitable events throughout her term.
Councillor Luxton said: “I started fundraising in 2019 with the ‘Steam Dreams’ steam train trip on the Windsor Express. This was followed by other fundraising events such as afternoon tea, a Christmas meal and entertainment and Christmas wreath making. ....

SCHOOLCHILDREN in Appleton have been busy spreading joy this festive season as part of a range of community projects.
Pupils at St Monica s Catholic Primary School have enjoyed a busy December, with a sponsored walk, Santa Dash and Christmas card making.
Head teacher, Annette Norman, explained: The generous children and families of St Monica’s Catholic Primary School have held a sponsored walk to support the St Joseph’s Family Centre Hamper Appeal.
The children put on their Santa hats and took their musical bells out to do 10 laps of their school field.
They did their part, and then their families have clearly been inspired by them as the generous donations have flooded in. ....
