Santa Barbara County is recommending masking indoors for everyone as the community sees an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases.
Health officials said as of July 16, the county s daily case rate was reported to be 3.6 cases per 100,000 people and rising.
With the increased circulation of the Delta variant, officials are now recommending that everyone, regardless of vaccination status, wear masks indoors in public places as an extra precautionary measure. That includes places like grocery or retail stores, theaters, and family entertainment centers. ....

UCSB Hosts its First Mobile Vaccination Clinic

In coordination with Santa Barbara County Public Health Department, UC Santa Barbara held a one-day mobile vaccination clinic for students on May 6. 
Like the May 6 clinic, all mobile clinics are offering the Moderna vaccine, with the option to receive Johnson & Johnson if a one-shot vaccination is preferred.

The first UCSB-hosted mobile clinic ran from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and primarily provided the Moderna vaccine. Students also had the choice to receive the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, according to Van Do-Reynoso, the Santa Barbara County public health director. 
Around 289 students made an appointment to get vaccinated at the clinic via UCSB’s Student Health Service (SHS) Gateway Portal, Do-Reynoso said, but the county equipped the clinic with 200 extra doses for potential walk-ins.  ....

County Public Health shuts down Goleta bowling alley until further notice

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. Santa Barbara County Public Health has temporarily shut down Zodo s Bowling Alley in Goleta until further notice on Wednesday.
Due to Santa Barbara County being in the red tier the bowling alley and arcade will have to close again until the county enters the orange tier or until June 15 when all businesses can reopen in California.
The reopening of Zodo s was due to a miscommunication with the Santa Barbara Public Health Department.
Under the red tier the bowling alley is not allowed to be open indoors but they are allowed to continue serving food outdoors and providing take out. ....

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. – Santa Barbara County leaders are concerned as more South County residents are fully vaccinated for COVID-19 than North County residents.
According Santa Barbara Public Health s Community Data Dashboard, 21.2% of South County residents are fully vaccinated. Only 13.6% North County residents are fully vaccinated.
Many of our South County educators and various sectors got vaccinated in another southern location in other counties. Whether that s in LA or Ventura County, when we list that number, it does take that into account, Santa Barbara County Public Health Director Van Do-Reynoso said. ....
