Lions Club Tube Rental kept afloat with lease renewal

The San Marcos City Council approved a new lease agreement with the San Marcos Lions Club for the Tubing Rental Facility during its meeting Tuesday night.
After many public commenters rallied in support of the Lions Club and a failed motion to sell disposable cups to generate more revenue for the city, the councilmembers voted 6-1 to approve the lease as it had been negotiated.

City council to consider amended lease agreement with Lions Club

The San Marcos City Council will consider approving a new lease agreement with the San Marcos Lions Club in their regular meeting Tuesday.
The City of San Marcos leases the facility to the San Marcos Lions Club Tubing Rental on a five year lease term. With the next renewal coming up in April, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board took the opportunity to look at the lease and see if they could get a better deal for the city, given recent budget constraints and increases to park fees.
After several Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meetings and a City Council work session on March 16, the proposed amended lease would include a funds donation from the concession stand at Rio Vista, the creation of a River Parks Improvement Fund, increased litter pickup times and including a lease renewal deadline of October 1 before the year of expiration. ....

SMCISD board passes polling locations, voting hours for upcoming election

The San Marcos Consolidated ISD Board of Trustees took action on several items regarding its upcoming May 1 election.
SMCISD will hold an election for two at-large board positions. Trustee Anne Halsey is the lone at-large incumbent running for reelection. Five additional candidates will be vying for the two board positions: Nicholas Costilla, Roger Davis, Andrew Fay, Sylvia Muzzy and Mari Salmi.
During Monday’s regular meeting, the board approved poll locations in Hays County for Election Day voting and listed the early voting location, dates and times for the upcoming election.
Early voting will take place at Live Oak Health (formerly Hays County Health Department) 401 Broadway St. #A in San Marcos; Hays County Government Center, 712 S. Stagecoach Trail #1012, San Marcos; and Texas State Performing Arts Center 430 Moon St., San Marcos. ....
