United hopes for complete performance, home-field boost vs. rival Locos


Being a courteous host is another matter.
A United team (6-6-2) in need of a quality win would love nothing better than to take one at the expense of USL Championship Mountain Division-leading El Paso Locomotive FC. The teams square off Saturday night at Isotopes Park.
New Mexico is coming off an unsightly 3-0 loss Wednesday at San Antonio FC and has struggled away from home, losing four matches in a row. But NMU has played well in front of its adoring home fans and hopes the home pitch will be a difference-maker against El Paso (7-1-3).

New Mexico United gets a moment in the national spotlight Wednesday, facing host San Antonio FC in a match that will be televised on ESPN2.
The visitors are rested and ready.
United comes into the match after a nine-day break, which coach Troy Lesesne says was much-needed. Prior to that span, NMU played five times in 18 days with three of those matches on the road.
