Champaign Health District will be hosting a Janssen/Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccination clinic Friday March 19. Vaccines will be available by appointment only and those interested should register online for an appointment.
CHD has transitioned to the Ohio Vaccine Management Solution (VMS) tool in place of registration. Those who have previously registered with CHD (online or on paper) and have not yet received a vaccine should log on to the CHD website at http://www.champaignhd.com/ or https://gettheshot.coronavirus.ohio.gov/ to schedule a vaccine appointment.
Gov. Mike DeWine announced expanded vaccine eligibility in Ohio beginning on March 19 for phases 1E and 2C. Phase 1E includes those with cancer, chronic kidney disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, heart disease, and obesity. Phase 2C extends eligibility to Ohioans who are 40 and older. The Champaign Health District received its first “dose” of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine on Tuesday, and Health Commissioner Gabe Jones could not have been more pleased.
“We keep hearing that vaccine production is ramping up, but this is the first week we have seen the fruits of that,” he said. “We have been running clinics and with all the logistical hoops we’ve had to jump through and vaccine shortages and everything else, it will be much easier with the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine.”
Prior to Tuesday, the Health District only had the Pfizer and Moderna double-dose vaccines. The single-dose option helps Jones and the Health District meet its goal: “Vaccinating a large number of people in a short period of time.” ....
