The TCR Hub, on the outskirts of Barnard Castle, boasts grounds with two ponds, woodland and other wild spaces to explore. To make the most of its surroundings, staff at the centre have devised a nature trail around the grounds as well as pond-dipping and a challenge sheet to keep the kids entertained. Created by artist Holly Scott, the nature trail features a series of hand painted illustrations to go and find in the grounds of the Hub, with a map, an information sheet and fun quiz about the creatures shown in the pictures.

Col Lee from the Rotary Club of Ballina on Richmond said the Ballina Hot Meal Centre is going to re-open to the public today (Tuesday 12 January), after volunteers had a two week break for Christmas. ‘That’s just growing and growing since the original story we did with Echonetdaily,’ said Mr Lee. ‘Some days with takeaways they’re doing over 200 meals, so it’s a vital facility in town.’ Acknowledging its important role in the community, the Ballina Hot Meal Centre has just received DGR status from the government.
