Bend Brush Fire Was Human Caused
Bend Fire & Rescue crews quickly extinguished a small brush fire on 15th Street and SE Lostine Circle Wednesday.  No homes were evacuated due to the fire, but three homes were put on alert. The fire grew to nearly a half-acre. 15th street was briefly closed while crews put out the fire. After investigation, it was determined the fire was human caused but it is unknown if it was intentional or unintentional. Investigation will continue.
Bend Fire & Rescue would like to remind the community that the fuels are already dry and fires will grow quickly in these conditions. ....

State COVID Hospitalizations Decline – St Charles Rise
While this week’s Oregon Health Authority’s COVID-19 Weekly Report shows a second consecutive week of declining cases and hospitalizations, St. Charles Health Care is reporting 40 COVID-19 patients, nine of whom are in ICU, with six on ventilators.
OHA reported 4,896 new daily cases of COVID-19 during the week of Monday, May 3 through Sunday, May 9. That represents a 12% decline from the previous week and marks the second consecutive week of lower weekly cases. New COVID-19 related hospitalizations also declined from 272 to 245.
There were 31 reported COVID-19 related deaths, nearly doubling the previous week’s total. ....
