ROCK ISLAND, IL A 3-year-old girl froze to death Tuesday after falling out a window and getting stuck outside, police said.
Charlotte Charlie Handelman was found unconscious shortly before 7 a.m. in the 1500 block of 14 1/2 street, NBC affiliate KWQC reports. She was pronounced dead shortly afterward at a local hospital.
Rock Island County Coroner Brian Gustafson told KWQC the girl sustained bruising and skull fractures after she fell from her home s second-story window, but an autopsy confirmed the preliminary cause of death was hypothermia. ....

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. A three-year-old girl died of hypothermia in Rock Island.
The little girl was identified as Charlotte Charlie Handelman, according to the Rock Island County Coroner, Brian Gustafson.
Police in Rock Island said they were called to a home in the 1500 block of 14 1/2 Street on Tuesday morning where Charlotte was unconscious. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Gustafson said the autopsy was performed Wednesday morning, and there was no signs that this was anything but a tragic accident. ....

A 3-year-old Illinois child is dead after police say she fell from a second-story window at her family home in Rock Island.
Charlotte “Charlie” Handelman fell from the window at some point between 11 p.m. Monday and 6 a.m. Tuesday. Officials said the girl’s father found her outside and called 911, according to The Dispatch/Rock Island Argus.
The child was rushed to the UnityPoint Health-Trinity Rock Island emergency room after Rock Island police and firefighters arrived at the home.
According to an autopsy report, Charlie died from hypothermia. The death was labeled as an accident.
“It’s being investigated as nothing more than a tragic accident,” Rock Island County coroner, Brian Gustafson, said. “She was a beautiful little girl. It’s absolutely tragic.” ....
