Pomfret proclamation salutes municipal clerks | News, Sports, Jobs

A proclamation, issued by Town of Pomfret on April 14 resolves that the week of May 2 through May 8 is designated as ” Professional Municipal Clerks Week.”
Unanimously adopted by town of Pomfret the Proclamation extends appreciation to all Municipal and Deputy Clerks for the services with which they provide their communities. Specifically, the Proclamation cites that the Clerk “serves as the professional link between the citizens, the local governing bodies and agencies of government at other levels.”
The Proclamation was presented to Allison Vento signed by Supervisor Daniel Pacos. It also honors Municipal and Deputy Clerks for “continually striving to improve the administration of their duties through participation in education programs, seminars, workshops and annual meetings of their state, province, county and international professional organizations.” ....

Assisted living facility plan approved | News, Sports, Jobs

ESCANABA A new assisted living and memory care facility is one step closer to being built in Escanaba after the city council approved plan for the project.
The Parkview Assisted Living facility will include a 26,145 square foot home for the aged, consisting of both assisted living and memory care units, as well as a garage and 17 cottage duplexes. The cottages will total 34 units, for seniors who are able to live independently.
The main building and two of the duplexes are expected to be constructed in 2021 with the remainder of the cottages to be constructed in the future. ....

FERNDALE, Wash. A Ferndale City official has achieved a statewide distinction.
City Clerk Susan Duncan was recently elected President of the Washington Municipal Clerks Association, a statewide professional organization.
Duncan has been the City Clerk since 2015 and is responsible for management of all public records, assembly of council packets and all human resources for the City.
She became a Certified Municipal Clerk in 2016 and in 2020 she received certification as a Master Municipal Clerk.
Duncan will be sworn in later this month at the organization’s annual business meeting. ....

Suwanee names new police chief, city clerk

The City of Suwanee has named a new police chief and a new city clerk following the recent retirements of two 20+ year city employees.
Cass Mooney, who had served as deputy chief for the Suwanee Police Department, took the reins as chief of police on Feb. 1, 2021. He fills a position left vacant by the retirement of Mike Jones.
Jones spent 23 years with the City of Suwanee and a total of 47 years in law enforcement, according to a statement from city officials. During Jones tenure, the Suwanee Police Department more than doubled in size. The department was accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies in 2010 – one of just 56 in Georgia – and in 2016, the department was named the Phyllis Goodwin Agency of the Year by the Georgia Chapter of the FBI National Academy Associates. Jones was also named Outstanding Chief of the Year by the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police in 2018. ....
