Giannoulias Receives Major Endorsement Ahead of 2022 Secretary of State Dem Primary

A former Illinois State Treasurer received a major endorsement to become the next Illinois Secretary of State.
The Chicago Tribune reports that Alex Giannoulias won the endorsement of the 22-county Southern Illinois Democratic Chairs’ Association yesterday for the March 2022 primary. In addition, Giannoulias said he also received 4 other Downstate counties’ endorsements.
Giannoulias is among 5 Democrats who are seeking to replace Jesse White. White is the state’s longest serving secretary of state, and has been in the post since 1999. White said late last year that he will not seek re-election.

Chicago South Side Alderman David Moore is announcing his run for Illinois Secretary of State to replace long time incumbent Jesse White, who is retiring at the end of his term in January 2023. Moore is the fifth candidate to enter the race for one of the most coveted offices in Illinois.
Moore says he intends to serve in the footsteps of White who he considers a great public servant, Illinois ambassador and role model to the state’s youth.
“He has run the office with great integrity and character while professionally conducting the business of the Secretary of State. I have decided to accept the call to build on such a rich legacy,” says Moore. ....

Ald. Moore running for secretary of state, vows to put ads on license plates

Ald. David Moore (17th) has jumped into the race for Illinois secretary of state, making him the fifth Democrat to announce a bid to succeed longtime incumbent Jesse White.
The South Side alderman pledged to put White’s name on new youth centers at driver’s license facilities and advertising on license plates.
“All across this state, I will work hard for those who have felt that they’ve been marginalized because they are not connected, or do not have a big family name, or who do not have the right level of income,” Moore said at his campaign kick-off over the weekend. ....
