South Korean delegation explores investment opportunities in Sikkim
Gangtok, Apr 17 ( UNI) South Korean delegation consisting of 6 members called on Chief Minister PS Tamang and Minister for Commerce & Industries Bedu Singh Panth. They also met Chief Secretary SC Gupta. Representative of KORA an International Company, based in Seoul, also part of the Korean delegation, highlighted that they were here looking for investment opportunities, manpower availability subsidies available, power supply and local conditions. The delegation, also suggested cultural exchange programme for studies, teaching and employment for Youth from Sikkim to Korea and from there to Sikkim.
The Chief Minister assured facilitating Investment friendly policies and support.Minister Bedu Singh Panth and different officers representing State projected ,automation in organic agriculture, higher education, improving road network, food processing, Information Technology and tourism as the main sector ....

Wearable sensors that detect gas leaks

Gas accidents such as toxic gas leakage in factories, carbon monoxide leakage of boilers, or toxic gas suffocation during manhole cleaning continue to claim lives and cause injuries. Developing a sensor that can quickly detect toxic gases or biochemicals is still an important issue in public health, environmental monitoring, and military sectors. Recently, a research team at POSTECH has developed an inexpensive, ultra-compact wearable hologram sensor that immediately notifies the user of volatile gas detection.
A joint research team led by Professor Junsuk Rho of departments of mechanical and chemical engineering and Dr. Inki Kim of Department of Mechanical Engineering with Professor Young-Ki Kim and Ph.D. candidate Won-Sik Kim of Department of Chemical Engineering at POSTECH has integrated metasurface with gas-reactive liquid crystal optical modulator to develop a sensor that provides an immediate visual holographic alarm when harmful gases are detected. North Sikkim - A tale of snow, nature & three vagabond cars

Day 1 (Kolkata to Gangtok, 15 hours, 700 km)
Three cars met at the Dankuni toll at 4 pm on 1st April. The date being the 1st April, I was relieved to see that the rest of the cars were waiting and the trip was actually on!
It was smooth sailing through Burdwan, SH7 and we reached Moregram BP by 8 pm. We took a tea break for about an hour, since having dinner by 8 pm would have been too early.
So we decided to have dinner at the Pardesi Dhaba, in Malda. Reached the Pardesi Dhaba by 10-45 pm and their piping hot Chicken Biriyani managed our hunger. ....
