The Colburn School, a renowned performing arts school based in Los Angeles, today announced the first national cohort of its recently expanded Fortissima program.
Housed under Colburn s Center for Innovation and Community Impact, Fortissima is an artistic and leadership development program for high school age young women from underrepresented minorities in classical music who demonstrate excellence on an orchestral instrument and have an interest in pursuing a career in music. ....

Lafayette Jeff cello player earns spot in Sphinx Performance Academy

He submitted a taped audition and was accepted into a very competitive summer program.
Sphinx Performance Academy is a full-scholarship intensive summer chamber music and solo performance program with a focus on cultural diversity, for string musicians ages 11-17. Curriculum includes lessons, masterclasses, recitals, career enrichment sessions, and mentorship tailored to each student.
SPA seeks to actively recruit and engage students from cultural backgrounds that are underrepresented in the field of classical music.
The 2021 Sphinx Academy will once again take place in partnership with the Curtis Institute of Music, Cleveland Institute of Music and The Juilliard School this summer. ....
