Castlepoint s series A round was led by Main Sequence, the investment fund created by CSIRO, and existing investor IxTx also participated. Castlepoint uses AI to automatically discover, classify and control every document, email, chat message, database, or webpage within an organisation. It then identifies rogue data and warns of potential compliance. There are already more than 25 live implementations of the product. The traditional models for managing information do not work well anymore, said Castlepoint CEO and co-founder Rachael Greaves. ....

UNSW will provide a six-month funding lifeline to the research team responsible for developing the secure embedded L4 (seL4) microkernel after the group was disbanded by CSIRO’s Data61. TS is one of several groups impacted by a wider Data61 restructure that will impact up to 70 staff across software computation systems, cyber physical systems and analytics and decision sciences. The new funding from UNSW’s School of Computer Science and Engineering will see continued research and development on seL4 – the first operating system kernel said to be mathematically proven to be secure. ....
South Australia’s $1 Billion Energy Deal Builds on Gas-Fired Recovery The South Australian and Federal governments have signed an AU$1.08 billion (US$834 million) agreement to provide South Australians with reliable and affordable energy while maintaining emission reduction targets. The deal involves a $100 million energy grid interconnector between South Australia and New South Wales and an investment of $510 million for emissions reduction projects such as carbon capture and storage, hydrogen, solar thermal, and electric vehicles. But the deal also includes a push for an increase in gas supply, building on the government’s Gas-Fired Recovery plan a plan to reduce costs and emissions and address Australia’s forecasted gas supply shortfall. ....
