May 14, 2021 This week Beth welcomes Chef Joey Maggiore from The Maggiore Group. The Maggiore Group owns and operates Tomaso's Italian Restaurant (which has been in operation since 1977), Hash Kitchen, The Sicilian Butcher, The Sicilian Baker and The Italian Daughter. The Sicilian Butcher features over the top menu items like its newly released bruschetta tower. The Sicilian Butcher has a great cocktail program ran by renowned mixologist, Matt Allen, and the restaurant boasts a Guinness World Record for the world's largest Negroni. Personally I would call out the tasty fare from Roman Villa, Monicas Tacos, La Casita, Jack Quinns, Margarita, Bingo Burger, Skirted Hefer, Paninos etc., etc. I also spend lots of $$$$$$$ at Ranch Foods for cooking at home and prepared items. And if that's not enough to explode your tiny brain I live half time in Phoenix where I eat at Whataburger 9at end of my street) McDonalds (3 blocks from me) In-n-Out (3 miles). I would call out the tasty fare that I eat from LOCALS: Sicilian Butcher, Venezias, Maskadores (OMG Mexican) King CoffeeRoaster, Tarbells, LeGrande Orange, Little Cay (yummy Caribbean flavors). I also spend lots of $$$$$$$$ at Arcadia Meat Market for cooking at home and prepared items.Your premise stinks and is not accurate. People do FAST food when they want fast, they do locals when they want tasty specialities.
Located at 4801 East Cactus Road in the former Salty Sow building near Paradise Valley Mall, The Mexicano will be a Mexico City-inspired eatery opening in late summer 2021. Menu items include Mexican restaurant staples (guacamole, ceviche) served in unexpected vessels (the ceviche comes inside a coconut, the guacamole in a scraped-out pineapple skin). Another menu item of note: the Machetes, 4-foot-long corn masa quesadillas served with your choice of Chicken Tinga, Chipotle Agave Shrimp, Braised Short Rib, and more, a nod to the 5-foot charcuterie boards found at The Sicilian Butcher. Food items range from $7 to $25. Lauren Cusimano The drink program will be overseen by mixologist Matt Allen, formerly of The Westin Kierland. The big news: There will be a build-your-own Michelada bar with oysters, shrimp, tamarindo sticks, and more than 40 other toppings (inspired no doubt by the popularity of the BYO bloody mary bar at Hash Kitchen).
From French toasts dishes and pancakes that could rival desserts at Hash Kitchen, to craft meatballs and pasta at The Sicilian Butcher, and then build-your-own cannolis at The Sicilian Baker, restauranteur Joey Maggiore likes to go big when it comes to his food and menus.
The unexpected decision by Governor Doug Ducey to allow 100% capacity at restaurants caught much of the industry off-guard and now, some eateries are scrambling to adjust.
“The Italian Daughter is a restaurant concept that I believe my father would have been really excited to see,” Maggiore Meyer says in a press release of her late father, who died in January. “I want people to experience the joys of our authentic Italian cuisine in an atmosphere full of music and energy.” On the menu: handmade pastas, charcuterie boards, Neapolitan pizzas, and desserts — all lateral to the menu items at sibling restaurants Tomaso’s (literally; her brother Joey Maggiore is executive chef), The Sicilian Butcher, and The Sicilian Baker. To drink at The Italian Daughter: Italian-inspired craft cocktails, wines and beers, and something fun called a gelato martini.
