The businesses at the centre of a $200 million alleged fraud against Westpac have been sold to a technology company owned by a man believed to be one of the alleged fraudsters’ cousins.
In a statement, Forum Group administrators Mackay Goodwin said the group of businesses had been sold “under highly challenging circumstances” to Our Kloud, “an established innovative technology solutions provider serving small and large enterprises across Australia and New Zealand”, the administrator said.
Our Kloud has been mentioned in Westpac’s proceedings against liquidated Forum Group subsidiary Forum Finance as a provider of server technology to the firm, with the bank’s lawyer, Jeremey Giles, having noted Westpac’s concerns at the group’s delay in providing crucial information from Forum Finance’s computers. ....

Forum Group meeting delayed as debtor numbers soar By Sarah Kendell 20 July 2021 Administrators of the group of businesses at the centre of a $200 million fraud against Westpac moved to postpone an initial meeting as the number of potential creditors involved in the troubled group ballooned. In a statement, Forum Group administrators Mackay Goodwin said a meeting of creditors scheduled for Tuesday had been pushed back 24 hours as “several additional creditors were discovered, significantly delaying the meeting registration process”. “The creditors’ meeting, which had 40 creditors pre-registered to attend, attracted around 180 creditors and observers,” Mackay Goodwin said. Bill Papas pledges to return to Australia to face courts after missing numerous deadlines

Forum Finance boss Basile Papadimitriou, known as Bill Papas, will return to Australia from Greece on Saturday to confront allegations of fraud.
Westpac took legal action against Mr Papas, and Societe Generale has launched a separate court action relating to allegations of fraud against his company, Forum Finance, of amounts worth $294 million and $9 million respectively.
On Wednesday, a Federal Court hearing took place.
Rocco Panetta, Mr Papas’ lawyer, said he had communicated with his client on several occasions and Mr Papas did not disclose his exact location, however there were numerous press reports that said that Mr Papas had on 25 May stated the intention to travel to Greece to watch his club Xanthi FC play. ....

Sydney businessman Bill Papas is missing after fraud allegations worth millions emerged from Westpac

Westpac discovered the alleged fraud leading to an investigation when Westrac, applied for finance for office products with the bank in early June.
The bank discovered it already provided financing for Westrac through Forum Finance.
WesTrac confirmed funds were in fact accessed through a Forum Finance loan for equipment worth about $9 million under its name, yet had no record of obtaining the funds.
Mr Papas vanishing act drew comparisons to Sydney businesswoman Melissa Caddick who vanished while being investigated by ASIC
Further investigations undertaken by Westpac into six more loan contracts financed by the bank allegedly showed the assets financed did not exist, with just one of the advances for equipment amounting to $211 million. ....
