Amarillo resident to submit petition on city hall project funding


Amarillo resident Craig Gualtiere released a statement Tuesday, stating his intention to submit a formal signature petition to officials with the city of Amarillo surrounding members of the community’s objection to potential use of certificates of obligation with the City Hall project. 
According to previous reports by the Amarillo Globe-News, this petition comes after the city of Amarillo’s numerous discussions, and decisions, regarding the potential future of City Hall.
City officials have previously expressed interest and intent to relocate city offices as the current City Hall is in disrepair and continues to deteriorate. Options moving forward include making minor fixes to the current facility, making long-term repairs to the current facility or moving to another location.  ....

Amarillo College to move location of Arts Department


As part of the college’s 2019 bond, which the voters approved in May 2019 and cost $89.2 million, Amarillo College will be adding and expanding on various buildings and programs on each of its campuses, giving more opportunities for students and faculty to succeed. 
The newest change from that bond will be coming to the college’s Washington Street campus: the relocation of the Amarillo College Arts department. The department will be moving from Russell Hall, its current location since 1994, to the basement of the College Union Building, or CUB, which currently houses Student Life.
The relocation project progressed during the recent meeting of the Amarillo College Board of Regents. The regents unanimously approved an agreement for Sims Architects, formerly known as Lavin Architects, to prepare plans and specifications for the new location of the department. ....
