CNY Students Donate Band-Aids To Golisano Children's Hospital

His parents told her he only looked forward to choosing special Band-Aids.
“It seems simple, but just a bandaid,” Merrit said.
“(The) whole focal point was making sure they’re kid friendly Band-Aids, because we know how much joy that can bring, rather than just a plain Band-Aid. Even colors, characters they re familiar with, just to brighten their day.”

Other school representatives also accompanied Merritt to deliver the Band-Aids. They were collected by the students in school, who showed generosity by often choosing to donate Band-Aids instead of getting some treat for themselves. ....

The Bronfenbrenner Center for Translational Research is launching a new project – the Community Neuroscience Initiative, or CNI – that will build connections between neuroscience, the social sciences and communities.

The project is headed up by Marlen Z. Gonzalez, assistant professor of human development, whose research focuses on how developmental context shapes the brain. “This is something I’ve been thinking about for a long time,” she said. “I believe it’s important for communities to feel a sense of ownership for the science that gets created and for neuroscience to be part of serving the community.” ....

New York state this year gave school districts permission to switch to remote learning rather than use a snow day when the weather turns nasty.
But Thursday many Central New York school districts closed due to the snow instead of going remote. Why?
Most Central New York district officials contacted by Syracuse.com | The Post-Standard said they are sticking with traditional snow days because switching to remote instruction on a dime is too difficult. Most districts make the call to open or close early in the morning, just hours before school would normally start. ....
