Our kitchen table or living room couch is where many people do work lately, and that includes visits to the doctor. New research from Syracuse University s Falk College indicates this method of health care will continue even after COVID numbers are (hopefully) reduced.

Syracuse University’s Falk College will establish a memorial fund in honor of late professor Evan Weissman, the university announced Wednesday.
The Evan Weissman Scholarship Fund will support graduate students in the food studies program, according to an SU News release. Weissman, who was an associate professor of nutrition and food studies, died unexpectedly on April 9, 2020.
Weissman’s family established the fund, and those who wish to contribute can do so online.
“We know how much Evan loved his students: he was so delighted to see them not only learning in the classroom but also learning in and from the community,” said Marsha Weissman, Weissman’s mother, in the release. “In creating this scholarship, we are keeping Evan’s spirit alive.” ....

First woman completing sport analytics degree at Syracuse U

Bailie Brown doesn t consider herself a trailblazer, and yet in a way she is â and so is her school.
Brown will graduate this month from Syracuse Universityâs Falk College with a Bachelor of Science degree in sport analytics, becoming the first woman to complete the four-year undergraduate program since its inception five years ago. Her 23 classmates are men.
âItâs definitely an honor, Brown said. I think that thereâs a little bit of pressure that goes along with that. I think I feel like I need to be successful.â
Syracuse University and California Baptist University in Los Angeles began offering a four-year undergraduate course of study in sports analytics in 2016. Brown chose Syracuse after discovering the program by chance. ....

William Paolo was working with other patients in the emergency room when Onondaga County’s first COVID-19 patient arrived. The county announced its first two cases, a woman in her 70s and her husband, on March 16, 2020.
Soon enough, the emergency room at Upstate Community Hospital was divided with barriers separating patients who had COVID-19 symptoms cough, fever, loss of taste or smell from others. But doctors were careful never to call it the “coronavirus side.” ....
