The Cedar Falls Community Schools’ initiative focuses on water safety for the 18 3- and 4-year-olds who participate in the weekly sessions at Peet Junior High School. A lot of partners are working to give the children this experience. Students are enrolled in the Panther Academy for Water Safety, which was started two years ago by Mike Hagensick. PAWS is designed to offer adaptive swimming for people with a range of special needs, from young children to elderly adults. ....

Following a poll of families in the district, the East Pennsboro Area School District has announced they will be going forward with a change to more frequent in-person classes for a majority of students. “Based on the academic and social-emotional needs of our students, and based on the CDC Guidelines that state ‘vaccination should not be a condition for reopening schools for in-person instruction’ we are planning on returning students to school,” an announcement on the East Pennsboro website reads. “While we had hoped to offer the vaccine to our staff, as you may be aware, it is not currently available to those who are in Group 1B. A respiratory therapist for Baptist Health Hardin, Jenkins said from watching patients lose their lives to watching families limited to online interaction with loved ones hospitalized, the year has been hard.
