Army pulls out in some areas of western Assam where normalcy has returned


 
 
Assam has been a hotbed of insurgency over the last few decades. Various parts of the state have been under the strict vigilance of the Indian Army. However, with continued efforts over time, many of the insurgency affected districts are gradually returning to normal, army press office said in a statement.
With incidents of violence at their lowest in nearly three decades, deployed troops of the Red Horns Division are being withdrawn from active insurgency (CI) operations from some districts of western Assam.
The Army has vacated the large Hatsingimari camp in South Salmara.
Camps in Mankachar has also been vacated. ....

Nagrijuli Police on Monday nabbed four dacoits from Dongargaon village under Tamulpur Police Station in the district of Baksa.

BAKSA: Nagrijuli Police on Monday nabbed four dacoits from Dongargaon village under Tamulpur Police Station in the district of Baksa. According to Manoj Das, in-charge of Nagrijuli Police Outpost, in the midnight of March 13, a group of four dacoits entered the house of Sudev Mandal by breaking the door of his house. Brandishing pistols and sharp weapons, the group of dacoits looted Rs 30,000 in cash and valuable ornaments and fled from the house. ....

Army organizes free medical check-up camp at Kawli village

BAKSA: In its efforts to increase awareness on health and hygiene and provide succour to ailing patients of hinterland villages of Baksa district along the Indo-Bhutan border, a medical and health check-up camp was organized at Kawli village by a unit of the Red Horns Division on Thursday.
A joint team of doctors from Red Horns Division and the civil administration successfully organized the medical camp for the villagers of remote localities. The team of doctors and dentist from army and civil administration provided medical assistance, medicines and face masks and sanitizers to 650 locals.
